- Biographical information
William Grieve was born in 1888, and attended George Heriot’s School from 1899-1903. He worked in the office of Messrs. John Herdman & Sons, Haymarket Mills.
October 1915 he was a Private with the 2/8th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. He went to France in March 1917. He then transferred to the 6th Gordon Highlanders and was killed in action on 20th November 1917.
He was the son of James and Margaret Grieve, of 15, Shandon Place, Edinburgh.
He died a the age of 29 and his name is on the St Michael’s WW1 memorial.
