Roy S Gall was born in 1921. He attended George Heriot’s School from 1932-1938. He was the only son of the late James Reid and of Mrs Annie Gall, 87 Baird Drive. Employed in the Post Office Telephone Engineers’ Department, he then joined the R.A.F. in 1941.
He trained in America and Canada and had many operational flights to his credit over Germany and Italy.
He was reported missing on his 7th trip to Berlin on 24th December 1943 and is presumed to have lost his life on that date.
He died at the age of 22 and his name was on the WW2 North Merchiston Church memorial.
