- Biographical information
William Bell was born in 1893 and attended George Heriot’s School. He was an O.T.C. cadet from 1909-1911, A./Lce. Corporal. He worked as a Civil Servant, in the Valuation Department of the Inland Revenue. He fought at Gallipoli and went missing on 28th June 1915. He was presumed to have been killed in action on that date. He was the only son of the late Mr Francis Bell (who died in January 1919) and of Mrs Bell, 50 Cowan Road. He died at the age of 21 and his name is on the St. Michael’s memorial of WW1.
