Christopher Cowan Thorburn was born in 1894 and attended Boroughmuir School. He was a student of Law in 1914 – 1915.
He was in the O.T.C. Infantry, September 1914 – January 1916.
He was Cadet Sergeant 11th attached to the 1st Gordon Highlanders. He was made 2nd Lieutenant in January 1916 and Lieutenant in March 1917. He then served in France, and was killed at Infantry Hill, Arras on 14th June 1917.
His name is on the WW1 memorial at St Michael’s Church.
